Quarantine centres and a co-ordinating taskforce are set up
A nationwide campaign has been launched to fight Sars after the central leadership yesterday announced that control of the epidemic was a priority.
Speaking at a conference in Beijing regarding the outbreak, Premier Wen Jiabao called on the nation to mobilise amid the crisis.
In the high-powered meeting, Mr Wen ordered quarantine centres be established in all key traffic points, such as airports, ferry piers and rail stations.
He called for special attention be given to rural areas, schools, government offices and military installations to prevent the outbreak from paralysing the nation.
The Ministry of Health published a decree calling for better co-ordination between research institutes from the government, universities and the military, Xinhua reported.
