Sars panic-buying isn't limited to masks and hand sanitiser. In Beijing the price of turnips is soaring - according to Reuters - after a local newspaper touted the vegetable as a key ingredient in an anti-Sars soup.

Carrots, leeks, garlic and ginger have leapt in popularity, too, after the popular Star Daily tabloid also published a recipe for fighting the virus last week.
