The board's chairwoman, Selina Chow Liang Shuk-yee, said yesterday that a wide range of discussions had been held between the board and the travel industry to consolidate ideas for the global comeback campaign.

'We need to come up with a full package of value-added offers for our customers,' she said.

'We must provide visitors with an exciting range of things to do so that they will come to experience the unique and sophisticated attractions available here and help spread the good word about Hong Kong.'

Hong Kong Hotels Association chairman Mark Lettenbichler said: 'We are most pleased with the government's plan of allocating $1 billion to launch large-scale publicity and promotions internationally and locally to promote and help various trade activities.
