HOW BREAKFAST DROVE SON TO DISTRACTION
A luxury car, with a celebrity owner, crashed and abandoned on Peak Road early Saturday morning had the press in a state of excitement usually the preserve of teenage Nicholas Tse Ting-fung fans. Especially as the crashed car belonged to Mr Justice Woo Kwok-hing.
However, Mr Justice Woo was in Shanghai at the time. His 23-year-old son Alan had been behind the wheel.
'My son was driving the car,' he told us when we tracked him down. 'He has permission to use the car and had decided, early Saturday, to go out and buy some breakfast.'
Mr Justice Woo said the low-speed, low-impact crash into the kerb occurred when his son was 'distracted by his takeaway breakfast on the passenger seat'. 'He parked the dented vehicle and went home to make a call.' A driver was sent to wait for a tow-truck.
Just when Mr Justice Woo's son will be allowed to drive his dad's BMW again is unclear.
