Where? On the east coast of Mauritius, a chi chi island in the Indian Ocean.

Who goes there? Bryan Ferry, Joseph Fiennes, Rufus Sewell, Amanda Donohoe, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and Jodie and Gemma Kidd were all spotted bopping in the moonlight to celebrate the resort's recent HK$600 million relaunch.

Sounds like a glamour-fest . . . Absolutely. Owned by hotel supremo Sol Kerzner, the new, 21st-century Le Touessrok offers five-star features in a funky contemporary format, and the service is second to none.

Examples, please? Round-the-clock butlers shimmy about the suites offering citronella tea and acid-free tissue paper for packing clothes, while on the beach guests need only raise a flag in the cashmere-soft sand to order cocktails, lunch, or even a sunglasses-cleaning service.

Big or small? Somewhere in between. The hotel has 200 rooms, which sprawl across the mainland, including 98 new suites on Frangipani Island, which is linked to the mainland via a wooden walkway.

Sounds like Club Med for the smart set . . . Over-the-top features abound - but in a good way. Stone pathways lead to myriad beaches, past a galaxy of glittering pools; two additional islands provide alternative sunning/dining locations, and there's an 18-hole golf course and spoiling new Givenchy spa.
