Sing Tao looks to mainland
SING Tao Holdings plans to expand further into publishing in China.
Chairman Sally Aw Sian said after the group's annual general meeting yesterday that China's publishing sector had great potential for growth. She did not detail the company's plans.
In April, Sing Tao and the People's Daily formed a joint venture to publish a monthly magazine called Xing Guang Monthly.
It has set up representative offices in Guangzhou and Shanghai.
Ms Aw said China's recent efforts to control the economy had not affected the advertising of mainland property in the group's Hong Kong papers.
Meanwhile, Tang Lap-yan, chairman of Sing Tao subsidiary Culturecom Holdings, said Culturecom would focus on the development of the comic market in Hong Kong, but would also explore markets in neighbouring countries.
The company intends to give a facelift to its new newspaper, Huanan Jingji Journal, in the next few weeks.
