The Hang Seng Index rose 3.13 per cent, or 275.98 points, over the week to close at 9,084.16 on Friday as Sars-related fears eased. HSBC rose 4.39 per cent to HK$89.25, while Cathay Pacific gained 2.45 per cent to HK$9.60.

Kenny Tang Sing-hing, associate director at Tung Tai Securities, said: 'The rally should continue next week with the index testing the 9,200-9,300 level. Sentiment and turnover have improved and the index has already broken above the 50-day moving average of 8,800.'
