Love is in the air: Seven more airlines have joined the 'We Love HK' campaign and announced special deals to incite air travel and help the economy get over the impact of Sars. Among the best deals being offered are return tickets to Colombo on Sri Lankan Airlines for $1,000; flights to Bangkok on Emirates for $920; to Singapore, Jakarta and Denpasar on Garuda Indonesia for $900, $980 and $1,180 respectively; to Honolulu, San Francisco and Los Angeles on Japan Airlines for $3,000; and tickets to Johannesburg for the same price on South African Airways. Most of the 2,500 return tickets at $1,000, which Cathay Pacific offered last week, have been redeemed, so the airline has rolled out another 2,000 tickets at $800 to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Manila and Cebu. To qualify you need to spend at least $1,000 at local travel agents, hotels, restaurants, shops, cinemas and taxis (a maximum of $300 can be retail spending). For instance, HeliHongKong (tel: 2108 9979; www.helihongkong.com ) is offering six-minute helicopter joyrides for $330 and 1,000 one-way tickets to Macau for $408 (usually $1,150), which would count towards the $1,000 total.
