Jewel purpose

If your bank balance won't stretch to diamond dazzlers from Tiffany & Co, maybe its recently released fragrance will do until you win the Mark Six. Dubbed the newest Tiffany jewel, Pure Tiffany fragrance was inspired by the company's gems and precious metals and is said by its creators to imbue the glamour and style for which the jeweller is renowned. The perfume combines magnolia, Indian tuberose, bergamot, lilac and jasmine to give a light, contemporary scent. The collection (above) includes parfum ($1,700), eau de parfum in two sizes ($680/1.7 oz; $940/3.4oz) and a body lotion ($430) and is available from Tiffany stores in The Landmark, Pacific Place, Lee Gardens and The Peninsula hotel.

Get your crowning glory in shape for summer, says hair salon Toni & Guy (G/F, 15 Wyndham Street, Central, tel: 2801 7870) by strengthening, repairing and conditioning it now and giving it a healthy sheen. Hair takes a beating in summer because of chlorine, sun and surf, but advance protection and nourishment will give you and your locks a head start. Intensive Super Varnish is a three-step treatment, adding protein and moisture to the hair shaft and sealing it in for at least a month. These treatments are particularly recommended for hair that is highlighted, coloured or permed and Toni & Guy is offering one free treatment when you buy three ($700 each). For dry, sensitive and itchy scalps, try the salon's de-stressing Scalp Treatment. Regular sessions are suggested to keep problems at bay and special offers of four treatments for the price of three ($700 each) or seven for the price of five are available. Chocolate Head, the latest product in the Tigi Bedhead range, deep conditions dry, damaged and chemically treated tresses in five minutes. If you have a treatment in the salon you can take a bottle, priced at $138, home for free.

According to haircare brand Phyto, silicon and resin, both common in conditioners, coat the hair to make it shine but they don't rehydrate it and can even damage it with extensive use. On the other hand, its new conditioner for dry hair, Phytosesame ($180/150ml), is packed with nourishing sesame oil, cocoa, rapeseed oil, vitamin E and other plant-based active ingredients to help to rebuild the hair's protective coating, restore moisture levels and revive shine. It also comes in an ecological aluminium tube, which isolates the natural ingredients from damaging external factors. (One way of distinguishing whether a product is high in natural plant content or only claims to be so, says Phyto, is from its packaging. Glass and aluminium get the thumbs-up; thumbs-down for plastic.) From branches of Watson's, Mannings and SaSa.
