MIDDLE ROW LOUNGE & BAR Kowloon Hotel Tsim Sha Tsui Tel: 2929 2888 In the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui is Middle Row Lounge & Bar, in the Kowloon Hotel, a discreetly funky, happening place with a band and live music, and a good deal offered for drinks and snacks. Overlooking bustling Nathan Road, the Lounge & Bar is a convenient place to stop after work or in between shopping. Patrons can choose between drinks, light meals and snacks. Order one of the bar's signature cocktails, the prize-winning Bird of Green Land (HK$75), a concoction that won the Asia Pacific Award in the 8th Sha-Asia Pacific Bartender of the Year Competition. It is made from tequila, maraschino, grenadine, fresh lemon and orange juice. Or try the Jamaican Sunshine, which was overall champion in the Hong Kong Bartenders Cocktail Challenge 2001. The drink is made with dark rum, passion-fruit liqueur, maraschino, pineapple, lemon juice and grenadine. Live entertainment begins at 7pm, Monday to Saturday, with a cocktail band and includes free snacks. The cover band performs from 9.30pm Monday to Saturday, and from 12.20pm - 1.15am on Fridays and Saturdays. The Middle Row Lounge & Bar is also known for its snacks. If you get the munchies, try the smoked salmon pizzetta with tzatziki. If you crave for something more substantial, ask for the glazed snails with herbs. An Asian favourite, marinated chicken and beef satays with spicy peanut sauce, can be accompanied by gratinated button mushrooms with ricotta cheese and spinach. Snacks are priced at HK$60.
