Diner throws teapot at man, 64, for sneezing

A middle-aged man flew into a rage at a restaurant in Shek Kip Mei and threw a teapot at a fellow diner, whom he accused of sneezing in his direction and failing to cover his nose. The teapot hit the victim, surnamed Tsang, 64, on the forehead at the restaurant in Berwick Street. The attacker fled before police arrived. Tsang, whose head was bleeding, was treated at the Caritas Medical Centre. Detectives were last night looking for his attacker.

Basketball official dies after his morning game

Hong Kong Basketball Association honorary president Yeung Ka-teng, 70, collapsed and died after playing in a basketball game in North Point. He was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital after he fainted while playing in the Tin Hau Temple Road playground at about 8am. Yeung played with his friends at the basketball courts every day.

Teenager arrested after assault of taxi drivers

Police arrested a teenager and were searching for four others after they allegedly beat two taxi drivers when their demand for a 50 per cent fare discount was rejected. One driver, 42, was punched and kicked by five youths in Kwong Fuk Road, Tai Po, at 3am after he refused a discount. Another driver, 51, drove by and tried to help him but was also beaten. Police were called and a 17-year-old youth was arrested, but the others escaped. The two drivers were treated at North District Hospital.
