With everybody feeling the economic pinch, most would think twice before laying out anything like HK$200 for eats five days a week. Restaurants are feeling the squeeze, and a number are offering the kind of lunch deal - well below HK$200 - that you have been praying for.
At Boca Tapas & Wine, on Peel Street, the lunch menu changes every week. A two-course lunch will set you back HK$88.
For this, you might choose between a starter of soup or salad. Mains include grilled chicken breast in pepperberry sauce or pan-fried salmon fillet in pommery cream sauce, or a pasta. Top the meal with tea or coffee.
Or glide up the escalator above Caine Road to the Cafe Gypsy. This little hole-in-the-wall has a set lunch from noon to 2.30pm for HK$85. If you opt for a glass of wine as well, the cost is HK$95.
The cafe's French chef flies in much of the produce from France, so daily specials are always interesting and varied. Not feeling that hungry? No problem.
Choose an a la carte entree like gratinee of gnocchi with gorgonzola and thyme. Even with a glass of wine, your bill should not top HK$200.
