Huaneng Power International, China's largest independent power producer, has obtained government approval on the 25 per cent purchase of Shenzhen Energy Group. The H share yesterday said the 2.39 billion yuan (HK$2.24 billion) purchase, which was completed last Thursday, would boost its generation capacity by 417 megawatts. Kingboard sets sights on $325m fund-raising Kingboard Chemical Holdings is attempting to raise $325 million through the placement of new shares. The printed circuit-board manufacturer had appointed ABN Amro to sell 50 million shares, or about 9.22 per cent of its existing capital, at $6.50 each, a source said. Gareth Jones to head up Hutchison's 3G UK unit Hutchison Whampoa has appointed Gareth Jones, a former Hutchison Telecom and Orange executive, as chief operating officer of 3G UK in another move to beef up the management of its new third-generation operation. Mr Jones will be responsible for the marketing, sales and distribution teams, while also handling the stores and contact centres. His appointment follows the naming earlier this month of Bob Fuller as co-chief executive of Hutchison Whampoa's British joint venture. Shenzhen Baoan busiest mainland airport Shenzhen Baoan Airport was the busiest airport for passenger traffic on the mainland this month, the People's Daily reported. By last Sunday, passenger throughput at the airport stood at 9,602 - an increase of about 40 per cent compared with last month, the report said. Superdata Software eyes $30m from initial offering Growth Enterprise Market listing candidate Superdata Software Technology is seeking to raise between $30 million and $35 million from its initial public offering. The management software developer is planning to sell 100 million new shares through a stock placement in a price range of between 30 cents and 35 cents.
