On style, she rules

Goldeneye

I like the Dior J'Adore advertisement, especially the model's make-up, but the brand doesn't sell gold eye-shadow. Where can I buy some?

Glitter Gal, Stanley

The Dictator rules: And do you flare your nostrils like model Carmen Kass when you say, 'J'Ado-o-ore'? Best not to. Chane-e-el's Irreelle Ombre might be what you're looking for and can be used wet or dry ($180; The Landmark, Central, tel: 2868 5389). Next door, at Estee Lauder (The Landmark, tel: 2868 2805), the Lemon Square eye-shadow - the one that comes in the promising bubble box but holds less than you'd expect - is soft enough to sport in daylight ($126). For the same price, Lancome has the long-lasting Colour Focus shadow in Slide (Lane Crawford, 70 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2118 3388). Makeup Forever, with its big palette of colours, sells a few gold shadows and multi-purpose powders ($110 to $180; 513 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay, tel: 2506 3506). Even the low- to mid-price brands at Watsons chemists make gold shadows.

Canmake's Fresh Eye Colour #04 comes in beige, brown and gold ($58); Fou D'Elle makes a 24K hue (GD-08, $48); and L'Oreal's ColorAppeal comes in sparkling Pale Yellow ($58) - all easy on the eyes and the pocket. Now, learn from Goldfinger: too much gold is dangerous. Apply it sparingly to the lid or use it as a highlighter. Do not find a matching lip colour. Do not coordinate your nails. Do not wear gold lame - ever.

You look tights

Where did those awesome leopard-skin print tights come from - the ones a model was wearing in the photo that ran with your column? I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a pair of those.

Wild At Heart, Kennedy Town

The Dictator: Give yourself 10 points for observation skills! Unfortunately, I'll have to relieve you of those points for style or lack thereof. Unless you are teenaged or younger it is difficult to pull off leopard-skin print tights. But if you insist, try the Violet Silk (2 Pak Sha Road, Causeway Bay, opposite 47 Lee Garden Road, tel: 2577 0269), a little shop run by a grumpy old lady. You'll find all sorts of bizarre tights for $30 to $125. Pick up the animal prints in sparkly and sheer/opaque styles. Or stock up on those plaid or floral stockings you thought existed only in your fashion dreams.

Stila at it

I love Stila but can't find it in Hong Kong any more. Seibu and Joyce used to sell it but no longer. Does anyone sell Stila any more?

Love Lost, Mongkok

The Dictator: OK, this is a question worth asking again. The last time we answered it, Stila had left us. Now, you can you can stop begging friends to bring back your Stila fix to Hong Kong: go to the DFS Galleria in Sun Plaza (28 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2302 6600).

Miss-Saint-Tropez

I've heard the St Tropez Self-Tanner has come on the market in Hong Kong and I would like to know if it works well. Where can I buy it?

Pale And Interested, Wan Chai Gap

The Dictator: What, are you slow as well as pale? I know it takes a bit of lateral thinking, but I mentioned St Tropez products in the recent self-tanning treatment question. Pay attention: you can buy St Tropez self-tan spray ($295), mousse ($295), and a travel kit with an exfoliator, moisturiser and lotion ($425) at ElleSpa (The Repulse Bay, 109 Repulse Bay Road, tel: 2537 7736).

Take cover

Do they sell CoverGirl products in Hong Kong? If so, where?

Girl Talk, Tseung Kwan O

The Dictator: No. The official line from Proctor & Gamble is: 'We do not distribute CoverGirl cosmetic products in Hong Kong. For skin-care products, we currently sell Max Factor, SK-II and Olay products only.'
