Moses Pearl, 9.30pm This film peels back the layers of myth to reveal the truths that lie at the heart of the Moses story. It follows the structure of the Bible's account of Moses' life, travelling in his footsteps across the Middle East; from his birth in Egypt to his struggles against the pharaoh, from his desperate vigil on Mount Sinai to his mysterious death on Mount Nebo in what is now modern-day Jordan. Moses looks beyond the confines of Biblical studies to find evidence for his extraordinary life story. Research from other fields such as climatology and oceanography offer startling insights into the natural phenomena that could have inspired tales such as the parting of the red sea and the 10 plagues. River Cottage Forever World, 8pm Celebrity downshifter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (above) continues to cruise around rural Dorset in southern england in his 1960s Ford Corsair convertible in this follow-up to Return To River Cottage. The start of his third year of eco-living finds the host happily ensconced with pregnant sheep and fatted calves but as ever cash is in short supply. His long-term plan is to produce the ultimate free-range roasting chicken, but once that is set in motion with the purchase of three varieties of hen and an obliging Indian game cockerel, he displays his usual ingenuity for making extra cash. Hayden Turner's Wildlife Challenge: Wildebeest National Geographic, 8.30pm Every year, more than one million wildebeest make a 3,000km trek across Africa in search of new grazing pastures - along with a few hundred thousand zebra and gazelle, they constitute the largest concentration of wild land mammals on Earth. Turner is off to the Masai Mara national reserve on their trail. He's hurrying to catch the wildebeest but the safari tour companies that offer to take him there are far too expensive to meet his scant budget. Just as he's getting despondent, a chance encounter provides him with the information he needs. But, after arriving at the reserve, days pass with no sign of the massive wildebeest migration. Desperate, Turner makes a big gamble - spending most of what he has left on a hot air balloon safari ride. If he doesn't see the herds from the air, there will be little else he can do.
