CSL staff harvest rewards of training

The GSM phone market is marked by market segmentation and myriad products and services. To be a clear leader in the field, a company requires an outstanding and well-informed sales team. Hong Kong CSL is just such a leader.

The company, best known for its 1010 and One2Free brands, provides marketing support, regular product and service updates, and training to all its sales staff. It has four recipients of this year's 35th Distinguished Salesperson Awards. They are Angus Lee Tsz-wan, Edward Tong Chi-yan, Elisa Ngan Shun-chi and Quinny Lau Lai-kwan.

Mr Tong, a supervisor at the 1010 centre, says: 'To be an effective salesperson in this market, we have to understand our customer needs and remain customer-focused.'

Ms Ngan, account executive, sales and services, agrees, saying hard-selling no longer works.

'We have to look from the customer's perspective to provide the best service,' she says.

Fellow winner Mr Lee, senior sales representative, sales and service, says: 'Our internal workshops also help a lot to improve our sales skills.'
