Essential oils: the basics

Vapourisers and burners

Add a few drops to water, heated by a candle, a powered vaporiser or a burner, to create a special mood that will help to lift your spirits. Avoid overheating. Different oils can be blended to enhance relaxation, balance and focus.

Bathing

Essential oils do not mix with water. Add a few drops to a cup full of shower gel, or a tablespoon of shampoo or bubble bath, add to running water to invigorate or relax you, or to achieve a state of mental and physical balance.

Massage

Blend 10-15 drops of essential oils with 30ml of vegetable or carrier oil for facial and body massage. Use as a home-made body oil after showering or sport for a sense of well-being and balance, and to invigorate or relax you. The blend will also help to improve the condition of your skin and muscles.
