Man's Heritage: Peregrine - Nature's Top Gun Pearl, 8pm Made in recognition of the centenary of man's first powered flight, this film explores the phenomenal abilities of nature's greatest aviator - the peregrine falcon, the fastest flying predator on Earth. Set against the backdrop of the RAF's fast jet-training school on the island of Anglesey in Wales, the film compares a young peregrine's skills with those of Britain's top fighter pilots. Over the course of one short season of training the young peregrines discover the limitations of the airframe design nature gave them and begin to learn the skills that will one day allow them to live up to their reputation as nature's top guns. Living With Lydia Pearl, 9.05pm After Lydia (Lydia Sum, above) goes for a job interview at a five-star hotel, the dim sum sample she leaves behind becomes a big hit with a VIP guest who then makes the proposition of a lifetime: marriage. The VIP turns out to be king of a small island nation in the Pacific Ocean. While Lydia has her hands full, Ronda (Koh Chieng Mun) demands Billy (Samuel Chong) upgrade her title to something more than personal assistant, because she feels her title does not reflect her skills. Sci Files: Dam Busters National Geographic, 11pm In spring 1943, a squadron of Lancaster bombers knocked out two massive dams in the heart of industrial Germany (above). They used an unusual and ingenious weapon: a huge, spinning cylinder full of explosives that bounced on water. It was the brainchild of Barnes Wallis, an engineer obsessed with the idea of shortening the war. He started off by experimenting with marbles in his back garden and, after a three-year-struggle with disapproving pen-pushers, finally convinced the RAF of the merits of his crazy idea. Using the testimonies of the surviving men who flew the missions - the dam-busters - and evocative reconstructions to give a sense of the atmosphere of the raid, this is an epic tale of ingenuity, skill and bravery, a mission that went down in history as one of the most daring raids of World War II.
