OOPS! Back Again is Chung Ying Theatre Company's upcoming production and features a new combination of artists. Lee Chun-chow (director), Hon Wai-hong (theatre/visual artist), Kung Chi-shing (founder of music and performance group Box) and the energetic Chung Ying cast, join forces to devise this highly unusual piece. Unlike other productions, Oops! Back Again is not based on a formal script nor defined theme. The team, starting with objects and images, gather material and record, select and re-create it through improvisation. Lee Chun-chow, director and conceiver of the show, hopes that through the actors' unique presentation skills, they can become playwrights without pens. Oops! Back Again tells of memories, dreams, objects and images.Memories never really vanish, it says. Instead they hide, listen, watch and wait, ready to appear. Kung will compose and perform music for the show. He is keen to develop his concept of music through experimentation in different formats, and the exploration of the unconventional possibilities of different acoustic and electronic instruments. Hon has taken part in many theatre pieces before, including collaborations with Zuni and Box. He is responsible for set installation and design. Devisers of the play also include an acting team of five: Sylvia Ho, William Lo, Suen Wai-fong, Alan Wong and Ben Yuen. Oops! Back Again will be staged from September 9 to 14 at the Shouson Theatre, Hong Kong Arts Centre. Tickets priced at $90, $70 and $50 are available at URBTIX outlets.
