The authorities have expressed reservations over Sun Hung Kai Properties' (SHKP) request to alter details of a planned Tsuen Wan hotel and have requested the developer to submit additional information. SHKP yesterday sought Town Planning Board approval to increase the site coverage and change the building design of a proposed 14-storey hotel of between 600 and 720 rooms. The hotel, to be developed on a 69,210-square-foot site near Ting Kau Bridge, will have a floor area of 316,460 sqft. SHKP, which had also sought approval yesterday to build hotels on former industrial sites in Cheung Sha Wan - one on Wing Hong Street and another on Castle Peak Road - requested the applications be deferred. Details of the projects were not available but it is believed that because the sites are located in between buildings still being used for industrial operations, this would diminish the chance of SHKP gaining approval for hotel use. SHKP had earlier secured planning approval to convert two industrial sites in Kwun Tong and Cheung Sha Wan into hotels.
