As regional travel warnings are lifted, the Ministry of Health vows to remain vigilant
The Ministry of Health yesterday vowed to maintain Sars prevention measures despite the lifting of travel warnings on four mainland regions by the WHO.
While hailing the World Health Organisation's all-clear for Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi and Inner Mongolia as an achievement, the ministry stressed that vigilance must be maintained.
In addition to lifting the travel ban, the WHO on Friday also took Guangdong province, the first to be hit by the outbreak, off the list of areas with local transmissions.
'Preventing the resurgence of Sars should be the priority at present,' the ministry said.
The mainland will maintain its recently opened fever clinics to stop Sars being spread in hospitals and continue checks at ports, airports, railway stations, schools and construction sites for potential infections.
