Product: Cyber-shot DSC-P10 Price: HK$4,590 Pros: Smallest five-megapixel camera, easy to use, heaps of accessories Cons: Short battery life
Sony's recently released Cyber-shot DSC-P10 is the first true five-megapixel ultracompact camera we have tried.
It is also the first purple digital camera that I have tried (though Sony calls it blue), but looks should not be a deciding factor in buying what is, after all, rather an expensive ultracompact.
Our review model lacked a user guide, but I prefer it that way. Without a manual to refer to, you get a better idea about a product's ease of use. And the DSC-P10 is largely easy to understand.
The on-board software is simpler and faster than you will find on many rival cameras.
Buttons on the case for selecting, deleting or scrolling through pictures, scene selection and multipoint auto-focus are also intuitive.
Sony has been heavily promoting the DSC-P10 as a gadget-lover's dream, with posters across Hong Kong showing dreamy models gazing over hoards of Cyber-shot accessories. However, from our experience, the accessories offer little more than a dent in your wallet.
