POSSIBLE BID FOR MAJOR EVENTS

Secretary for Home Affairs Patrick Ho Chi-ping said the government is considering bidding for some of the region's top sporting events, including the East Asian Games, Asian Games and the All-China Games.

Some time has been spent studying the feasibility of staging these international sporting events in Hong Kong, the home affairs chief said.

He said whether the SAR would host these large-scale sporting events depends on costs, whether venues and facilities are available and public support.
