The ''Recycle For A Better Tomorrow - Old Books Recycle Campaign'' is supported by Jusco Stores, World Vision and the Hong Kong Housing Authority.

Members of the public have been bringing in unwanted books and magazines and depositing them at the Kornhill Store (Eastern Entrance) since August 14, the day the campaign began.

Ms Ruby Wan, senior officer for public relations and customer services at Jusco Stores, said that magazines, reference books and textbooks made up the bulk of the donations, followed by general fiction and childrens' books.

''This is the second year we are holding this recycling old books campaign,'' Ms Wan said.

''The response has been very encouraging this year. It's been as successful as the last one, and we hope to hold it as an annual event.'' The campaign includes selling old books to raise money for education purposes in mainland China.
