Are you in the market for a new notebook that delivers more bang for the buck? Then skip that visit to the store, log on to Dell Computer's Web site, and check out its 'fast and furious' offer.

Dell claims to have broken the three-gigahertz speed barrier in notebooks with its new Inspiron 5150, the first laptop released in the market to run Intel's 3.06GHz Mobile Pentium 4 processor.

To make sure that the Inspiron has your attention, Dell has taken an aggressive marketing strategy and slapped the machine with a sticker price that starts at HK$12,798.

Standard features in the Inspiron rival those of higher-priced notebook models that we have previously reviewed.

With its new Intel chip, this Dell notebook has low power requirements that help yield about four hours of battery life.

Its multimedia bells and whistles are powered by ATI Mobility's Radeon 9000 graphics chipset, two gigabytes of memory and a 15-inch display.

It manages digital-content editing for music, photos and movies, and handles various office-productivity applications. The unit has two universal serial bus 2.0 ports and an IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) standard 1394 port. Staying connected, either at home or out and about, is straightforward with an integrated 56 kilobits per second modem, Ethernet connection and optional integrated wireless system.
