Premier Wen Jiabao will be able to get his first taste of Hong Kong's way of life when he comes for the sixth handover anniversary celebrations.
Mr Wen is keen to tour around some of the local districts and facilities during a three-day visit, despite simmering public discontent fuelled by the controversy over the Basic Law's article 23 and worsening unemployment.
The Sars-hit Amoy Gardens and Prince of Wales Hospital are understood to be among the list of places being considered.
This will be the premier's first visit since taking his post in March this year. One of the highlights of his itinerary will be signing the morale-boosting arrangement on closer economic co-operation between Hong Kong and the mainland.
He is expected to have dinner with principal officials at Government House and meet deputies of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, as well as representatives of Chinese enterprises.
Ip Kwok-him, a local deputy to the NPC, said a meeting with Mr Wen was being arranged for Monday at the Convention and Exhibition Centre. He said that other than to report recent developments in Hong Kong such as the Article 23 row, issues including the economy would be raised by local deputies.
