19-year-old dies after game of basketball
A 19-year-old youth died shortly after playing basketball with his friends on Tsing Yi island yesterday. Ng Hin-ming and his friends began playing basketball at a court in Cheung Hang Estate at 2pm. At 6pm he suddenly collapsed and his friends alerted a doctor from a nearby clinic who gave the unconscious youth emergency treatment before ambulance officers arrived. The youth was rushed to the Princess Margaret Hospital but he died shortly after arrival. Police said a post-mortem is expected to be performed to determine the cause of death.
Fireworks set off outside kwai chung incense shop
Fireworks placed in a plastic bucket exploded outside an incense-product shop in Kwai Chung. Emergency crews were called to Lai Yiu Street outside the Lai Yiu Estate shopping centre after a guard discovered smoke billowing out from the bucket. A man told officers that he saw two men running away after lighting the fireworks.
Cathay pacific told to file report on engine trouble
Cathay Pacific will have to file an investigation report to the Civil Aviation Department over an incident in which a Boeing 777-300 bound for Bali returned to Chek Lap Kok after 30 minutes when it experienced engine trouble on Tuesday morning. The plane carrying 333 passengers and 14 crew landed safely.
