ART IS INSPIRATION. Not only does it have the power to educate, it also has the power to heal. Now the idea of using art to enhance patients' lives is being put into practice with the new charity Inspiring Spaces.

The charity aims to put love and hope into the lives of chronically ill children through art by creating a warm and artistic atmosphere in the environment in which they live.

With the support of Kids' Gallery, the charity has been set up under the auspices of another local charity, the Playright Children's Play Association.

This year, the young artists of Kids' Gallery will be exhibiting their art at the Lan Kwai Fong Bark Modern Art Gallery, one of Hong Kong's leading contemporary art galleries, in conjunction with the launch of Inspiring Spaces on July 5.

How will this enhancement of children's lives be put into practice?

Kids' Gallery Managing Director Joanna Hotung said one of the aims of the charity was to brighten up their lives through their surroundings, and Kids' Gallery will support this idea by donating artwork that the children produce to hospitals. Not only is this a good reason for the children at Kids' Gallery to create more inspiring works of art, it also serves as a way to decorate the rooms of children with chronic illnesses.
