Shanghai hopes to create 200,000 jobs this year

Shanghai authorities hope to create at least 200,000 new jobs in the second half of this year, People's Daily reports. The new target aims to keep Shanghai's registered unemployment rate below 5 per cent. By the end of June, that rate had reached 4.85 per cent, with the number of unemployed exceeding 294,000. A city spokesman said the employment forecasts for the rest of the year were not optimistic.

New hotline in place to offer job guidance

A jobs hotline has been set up for graduates, offering career guidance and links to placement centres, the Beijing Times reports. The hotline number is (8610) 66066620 and the service will start on July 7.
