He then joined banking multinational HSBC, becoming head of group marketing based at its London headquarters, responsible for implementing its global rebranding in the late 1990s. Meanwhile, Martin Wong has been appointed assistant director of food and beverage at China Hotel. Mr Wong has worked for various famous hotels in China since 1986. He will contribute to expanding the food and beverage market at the hotel and enhancing its food and beverage management. He has extensive practical project experience gained while working on various railway projects in Hong Kong and Singapore over the past six years as in-house consultant or team leader in respect of system assurance. Ann Law has been appointed head of risk management for Swiss Re's China Life and Health operations Jose Linares has been appointed head of equity research for Asia ex-Japan at JP Morgan. Mr Linares has spent the past 18 months as head of Latin American equity research and led the team to their No1 ranking in the 2002 Institutional Investor poll. In addition to running the Latin American team, he was also JP Morgan's telecommunications analyst in the region and has been regularly ranked No1 in the Institutional Investor poll in that category. Mr Linares replaces Peter Redhead, who will be relocating to London to become head of European equity research. Mr Linares will take up his position, based in Hong Kong, later this month. He started his career covering emerging markets at Morgan Stanley in 1993. Carlos Oyarbide Managing director, head of financial institutions group for Asia-Pacific ex-Japan CSFB Mr Oyarbide will oversee the investment banking team covering banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions groups (FIGs) in the region excluding Japan. He will report regionally to Eric Varvel, head of investment banking for Asia ex-Japan and Australia, and globally to Richard Barrett, head of FIG banking. He joins CSFB from Morgan Stanley, where he was a managing director for corporate finance execution. Johnny Wong Asia-Pacific sales director Janus International Mr Wong will be responsible for further developing third-party distribution channels for Janus' family of 15 funds authorised for distribution in Asia-Pacific and expanding the company's presence in the region. He comes to Janus with more than 11 years of regional experience in the fund industry, including four years with Franklin Templeton and, most recently, with HSBC Asset Management. Yanli Liu Account director EBA Group, China Ms Liu was previously group leader of the semiconductor practice at H-Line Ogilvy Communications. From 1995 to 2000, she worked at EDN China, a leading electronics-industry publication. Ms Liu holds a Bachelor's degree in industry. She started her career as an electronic technician at the Shougang No2 General Machinery Plant in Beijing.
