Why wasn't the march covered live in English?

This is a letter to all my Chinese friends in Hong Kong.

Although I have lived here for almost 15 years, I still cannot speak Cantonese at a level that could even remotely be described as that of a 'native' speaker.

To you, I apologise. I should have made a greater effort.

To the media, however, I cannot offer the same apology.

In all earnestness, I tried to show my support for the protest against Article 23 on July 1.

After waiting in the heat for more than two hours in Victoria Park and moving less than 100 metres, I returned to my flat with the hope that my presence would still be counted in the number of participants.
