THE ATRIUM Swire Properties is clear about the clients for whom its 50th floor Penthouse Suites at The Atrium, Pacific Place, were designed. 'To occupy a penthouse at The Atrium is testament to having reached the pinnacle of success,' says leasing manager Jeremy Lamburn. Accordingly, the suites are the height of luxury. The top storey of The Atrium is dedicated to six penthouse suites, each boasting more than 2,100 square feet of space and designed to accommodate the tastes and requirements of the most discerning executive and his/her partner. Each suite features a personal sauna, a circular bathlob and a spacious, lavishly appointed living area. The privileged occupants wake up to stunning views through picture windows dominating the bedroom. No detail has been overlooked - from a complete wall of closet space in the master bedroom to a cleverly thought-out separate serving entrance in the kitchen, ideal for catering when entertaining at home. An in-house team was responsible for the original design, and the penthouses were subsequently revamped and updated by Robin Wight of Avant Garde Designs. The brief was to create a dynamic yet functional executive residence that could simultaneously serve as a comfortable and welcoming home, while providing a superb venue for exclusive private or corporate entertainment. 'We were trying to achieve an inviting but simple effect that would blend with a resident's personal effects and artistic preferences,' Mr Lamburn says. 'As the majority of penthouse stays are long-term, the residents will inevitably add their own artwork, and even a few pieces of furniture. The suite's basic design must allow this preference, rather than obstruct it. We were also careful not to select too strident a design that would detract from the spectacular skyline views from each room in the suite.' Quality fixtures are found throughout the suite. Carpets were specially designed for The Atrium by Tai Ping; Italian marble is a feature of the bathrooms and personal sauna area; and the spacious bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and a luxury down quilt. Kitchen appliances are European designer-brands, adding to the overall sense of a clean, uncluttered look. The bathroom features Italian marble and modern fittings. The circular bathtub is next to ceiling-high, mirror-coated windows that ensure the resident enjoys the panoramic view in complete privacy. 'The generous size, unbeatable location and unrivalled views make The Atrium's Penthouse Suite a unique address in Hong Kong,' Mr Lamburn says. 'Over past years, these suites have been home to chief executives, celebrities and government dignitaries. With the renowned service of Pacific Place Apartments and full, seven-days-a-week attendance from a professional team of staff, it is not surprising that all six penthouse suites have continued to enjoy steady occupancy since the fully serviced, fully furnished penthouse concept was introduced. 'So far, Pacific Place Apartments remain the best possible choice, and meet all living requirements in the hub of Hong Kong,' he says.
