Misplaced priorities

Watching Bishop Zen Ze-kiun's 'army' pour on to the streets in the past weeks reminded me of the way that the communist schools sent their students to the San Po Kong demonstrations in 1967.

And I wonder whether if you subtracted the Catholic fraternity, the foreign domestic helpers plus students that Bishop Zen encouraged on to the streets, there would be a noticeable difference in numbers.

I feel that Bishop Zen has tarnished his reputation in his attempt to be the champion of the people. I suggest that if he is truly a supporter of 'democracy and social suffrage' reform as he has claimed in the media, then he should start with the desperate needs of his flock. Tens of millions of Catholics are forced to sin against the church every week simply because they use contraception. Does the Pope listen to the millions of 'sinners' that have approached him on this topic? Of course not. His word is law. Also, church leaders are trying to hide the names of a number of their own involved in the sexual assault of young children.

The Catholic Church has not got things right in 2,000 years. At least give Hong Kong a little time to sort things out before you begin rabble-rousing in the community.
