Juno Mak has never been fortunate enough to bask in adulation of the sort enjoyed by his fellow Canto-pop luminaries.

But born with a silver spoon in his mouth, the 19-year-old son of CCT Telecom chairman Clement Mak always believed he could become anything he wanted.

So when his father's business partner, Canto-pop star Andy Lau Tak-wah, jokingly encouraged the novice singer to take a stab at stardom - by learning to dance - he took the advice to heart.

Since his debut last summer, however, Juno has been the target of stories in gossip magazines and newspapers discussing his abilities.

A few months ago a gossip magazine made him the cover story, splashing photographs of the singer and his girlfriend.

Juno collected awards at the three main end-of-year music awards in 2002: Metro's Hit Awards, Commercial Radio's Ultimate Song Chart Awards and TVB Jade's Solid Gold Awards.
