THIS being the last in our series of ''The Working Week'', Sunday Money has put together a random selection of pen sketches of some of the people we featured. The column was started on July 13, 1986, and, in the past seven years, Hong Kong luminaries fromall walks of life took time out to give us a brief insight into one week in their busy schedules.
John Meredith MANAGING director of Hong Kong International Terminals John Meredith (above) allowed us to ''spend'' time with him during the week ending November 8, 1987. Mr Meredith sailed with British line P & O for 17 years before coming ashore in the early 1970s, at the start of the container revolution.
As part of a small team - many of whom are still with him at HIT - he helped build Hong Kong container operations from nothing into the major international business it has become. In charge of the largest of Hong Kong's three terminal operating companies, Mr Meredith said he found the job eclectic and enjoyable.
Tony Wong THE working week of comics king Tony Wong (left), then the president of Jademan Holdings, was featured on July 27, 1986.
The week had begun with Mr Wong announcing plans for the public offering of Jademan, which was to become the first company of its kind to be listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange.
Mr Wong was in the thick of working out the details of the allocation for release on July 28, 1986. As such, the week was one of the busiest in the colourful life of Mr Wong.
