Marketing MTR plan a winner

TWO Canadian university students have won a competition with a marketing plan for electronic information display boards on MTR train carriages.

Ngai Au and Michael Chan, who both attend McGill University in Montreal, took first prize in the sixth annual MBA (Master of Business Administration) Canada-Hong Kong Trade Competition.

The competition, sponsored by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, required students to identify a new or existing Canadian product or service with potential to be exported to Hong Kong.

Mr Au said the idea was inspired by a system in Montreal's underground.

After contacting the firm which developed the concept, Mr Au and Mr Chan prepared the plan incorporating information about the MTR and Hong Kong's advertising sector.
