Projector king InFocus is attempting to propel the humble projector into the house of style with some help from luxury leather goods maker Coach.
The result is the Coach Edition LP120, a limited-edition personal projector that comes with a custom leather briefcase made by Coach. The briefcase has - inhale deep, exhale - colour-coded compartments to match the colour-coded cables that come with the projector.
Weighing less than 1kg, the LP120 is the lightest, smallest projector on the market, designed for ultra portability with a laptop.
Despite its small size, it is able to deliver resolution of 1024x768 pixels and project an image 2.7-inches to 22.2-inches wide to distances ranging from 1.5 metres to five metres.
The LP120 is quite a technological achievement as projectors used to be the size of mini-fridges and it is only in the past five years, as a result of new lamp technology from Philips, that the size of projectors has been reduced dramatically.
The LP120 will be available next month at an estimated price of HK$24,800. The exclusive Coach Edition will cost just HK$4,000 more at HK$28,800, so in brand and fashion-crazy Hong Kong, the Coach Edition will probably sell out as soon as it hits the stores.
