Typhoon Imbudo hit Guangdong and Hainan provinces with heavy rain and gale-force winds yesterday, but did not cause major damage after it landed near the border between Guangdong and Guangxi.
Official tallies said three people were missing. Hospital staff in Yangjiang, one of the hardest-hit cities on the coast, said a few dozen people had minor injuries.
On Hainan, about 2,600 fishing boats sought shelter in Haikou port and 32 flights were cancelled on Wednesday, leaving 2,000 passengers stranded on the island.

In Hong Kong, meanwhile, life got back to normal after the final storm signals were lowered shortly after midday amid widespread reports of minor building damage and fallen trees.
