Lily Yam Kwan Pui-ying told the South China Morning Post that as host of Speaking My Mind on RTHK, she would express her views on some current affairs but would mostly focus on how to enjoy life.

Asked about the recent political crisis facing her former boss, Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa, she said people should give him a second chance.

'It is never a difficult task to know people's needs, but how to be responsive to them,' she said.

'We should give Mr Tung time to carry out his words to improve communication with the people.'

Mrs Yam, nicknamed the 'Iron Butterfly', left the government last year after 33 years of service, just one week before Mr Tung announced details of his ministerial system.
