We all know casual dressing is a no-no in our august courtrooms, so Yan Wai-leung, who appealed in the High Court this week against a $1,500 fine for riding on a train without paying, slipped into a dark dress and matching high heels. It was all good and proper, except Yan is a man.

The good judge seemed unfazed by the spectacle and deferred payment for three months after hearing Yan was jobless and lived on welfare. Still not satisfied, Yan demanded that the court help him find a job with the New Territories light rail so the fine could be deducted from his wages.

At this point the judge grew tired of Yan's antics and fined him $750 for wasting the court's time.
