Yao Ming and the Chinese national team will give a select group of Hong Kong youngsters the benefit of their basketball expertise in a public clinic when they visit the SAR next week. Superstar centre Yao, who enjoyed a fabulous rookie season with the Houston Rockets, and his fellow NBA player Menk Bateer will be the main attractions when the national squad demonstrate their world-class skills in an exhibition at the Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai on Tuesday . 'It is a golden opportunity for our players to learn from the best,' said Queenie Lee, business director of Nike Hong Kong who are organising the event. Members of the Nike All Hong Kong Basketball League, which has been running since 1997, will be on the floor to play with Yao and company and learn from the players and coaches of the China team. China will play the Melbourne Tigers from Australia's pro league in the HSBC Hong Kong International Basketball Challenge at the Hong Kong Coliseum on Wednesday as part of the government's relaunch Hong Kong campaign.
