Students wishing to continue their studies in Britain this year will be happy to know that it is not too late to sign up for courses.
Dozens of British institutions, including further education colleges, colleges and universities, will take part in the Education UK Enrolment Interviews, to be held on August 16 and 17 at the Exhibition Hall of the China Resources Building in Wan Chai.
'Nearly 80 UK institutions will be present at the exhibition to meet students and conduct interviews,' says Wynne Kam, education officer, UK Education Services, The British Council. 'Successful applicants will be able to start their studies in the UK this September.'
Hopeful candidates planning to attend the exhibition are advised to bring along their examination results, school reports, and other relevant qualifications, such as International English Language Testing System or Test of English as a Foreign Language scores. These materials may help interviewers process their applications.
'Institutions may be able to offer places to students straight away if they meet all the entry requirements,' Ms Kam says. 'If not, students will be given a conditional offer. They will be accepted, provided they meet certain English or other requirements set by the institution.'
Students unfamiliar with the educational system in Britain are advised to attend a group counselling session to get more information on study in Britain before the event takes place.
Form Five school leavers wanting to further their studies in Britain have a number of options. The first is to take a General Certificate of Education Advanced Level and GCE Advanced Subsidiary, which are similar to A-Levels in Hong Kong.
