This year's Macau Grand Prix meeting, celebrating its 50th anniversary, has been extended over two weekends to accommodate two new events.
Racing will now be spread over six days - November 8-9 and November 13-16.
The first weekend will see two new events, for historic and classic racing cars, on the 6.2-kilometre Guia Circuit.
An organising committee spokesperson said yesterday that the historic and classic cars would be imported from across Asia, including Hong Kong.
'It's the 50th Grand Prix, and the two extra races are being held to mark the historic event,' the spokesperson said.
Also scheduled for the first weekend are the Hotel Fortuna Trophy and the East Asian Game Cup Race. The two events attracted about 100 Hong Kong and Macau competitors last year.
The remaining four days of competition will be highlighted by the traditional international races - the Formula 3 Grand Prix and the popular Guia event, usually dominated by European sedan racers.
