Eight Australian police investigators arrived in Jakarta yesterday to help track down the perpetrators of the hotel blast.
The team, which flew from Canberra, included forensic experts, crime-scene examiners and bomb-data analysts. They were later joined by a civilian forensic pathologist and a mortuary manager from Perth in Western Australia.
The speed with which the experts were sent, and the fact they were invited by the Indonesian government, reflects the close working relationship established between Australian and Indonesian police in the wake of last October's Bali bombings, which killed more than 200 people.
Within hours of the latest blast, 14 Australian police officers already working in Jakarta were on the scene to help their Indonesian counterparts search for clues.
