A fledgling Hong Kong company has created a portable entertainment unit that costs less than half the price of similar products from the United States.
Called Twin-TV, the device was developed by Idea Expert Technology, a company that Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corp helped establish.
It stores DVD-quality Mpeg 2 video, MP3 music and popular image format files in a light silver box about the size of a cigarette case.
Essentially a laptop hard disk with a USB 2.0 interface built in to an aluminium alloy box measuring just 137mm by 73mm by 16mm, it is designed as a portable storage device aimed at salespeople who need to do presentations.
The Twin-TV has an audio-video interface, allowing the user to plug it into a television to view its content. It also has a slot that takes Compact Flash memory cards.
Presentations in Microsoft Power Point format must be captured first in jpeg before being transferred to the device. There are 11 slide-show formats to choose from.
