The visit might well be tracked and logged thanks to one of the most repulsive creatures in the entire internet bestiary: spyware, alias adware.
The term means software which has wangled its way into your hard drive without asking and is primed to pilfer information about you or your organisation. This software can arrive in the shape of a virus or as a result of installing a new program. Among other sources, blame KaZaa, allegedly infested with spyware which is hard to avoid because when you install the program you agree to accept it and effectively give it carte blanche to record everyplace on the Information Highway you make a pit stop.
On a visit to Evidence Eliminator, Technopedia encountered this warning: 'Urgent newsflash - your internet traffic is being routed through the British ISP Demon ... you are at very high risk of investigation!' Deleting 'internet cache and history', will not protect', the message continued ominously.
