The Bradbury Building, a central Los Angeles landmark, has been sold to Hong Kong investor Goodwin Gaw's Downtown Properties Holdings.
On the corner of Broadway and 3rd Street in central Los Angeles, the building is famous for its cinematic lobby that has been featured in numerous films and television programmes including Blade Runner and The Outer Limits.
Downtown Properties bought the Bradbury for US$6 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The property firm also owns several older restored buildings in Los Angeles, including One Bunker Hill and 818 West 7th Street, as well as the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, according to the newspaper.
'We love the downtown historical area,' Eric Bender, vice-president of asset management for Downtown Properties, told the newspaper.
The company also is reportedly renovating the nearby and long-shuttered Douglas office building at 3rd and Spring streets into 50 residential lofts and is looking for older buildings in the area to convert to housing.
The Bradbury Building is about 90 per cent occupied and talks are reportedly underway for a restaurant and nightclub to open on the ground floor, which has more than 3,000 square feet, according to website caltradereport.com.
