Chinese businessman quizzed over murders
A Chinese businessman is being questioned by Fiji police over the killings of two Hong Kong men and two local men at a fish processing plant near the Fijian capital, Suva, last Friday. Rupeni Talakuli, the 26-year-old factory security officer, and Chong Ho Kin, 24, were found dead at their work stations. Two Hong Kong men, Kaa Kee Kueok, 36, and the factory's general manager, Wu Guiniu, 19, were found dead in their beds above the factory. They had all been shot.
Macau couple arrested for passing fake notes
Macau's Judicial Police yesterday announced the arrest of a local couple for allegedly trying to pass bogus US$100 notes. The couple, identified only as a Mr Lei, 39 and a Mrs Chan, 37, are understood to own a souvenir and gift shop, and allegedly ordered several of their summer-job student employees to exchange the dud notes for patacas at a local bank on Monday.
Japanese Finance Minister to visit HK and Shenzhen
Japan's Minister of State for Financial Services and Economic and Fiscal Policy, Heizo Takenaka, will start a three-day visit to Hong Kong and Shenzhen tomorrow. He will meet Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa and Hong Kong Monetary Authority chief executive Joseph Yam Chi-kwong first before travelling to Shenzhen.
