Tung invited to Xiamen investment trade fair
Hong Kong Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa has been invited to attend the annual China International Fair for Investment and Trade in Xiamen next month. A spokeswoman for Mr Tung's office confirmed the invitation but said the itinerary was still being worked out.
Macau's population up 4,900 from last year
Macau's population reached 444,000 at the end of June, an increase of 4,900 residents over last year, the Statistics and Census Bureau said. The total includes 30,606 people from Hong Kong, the mainland and overseas countries, as well as 23,498 imported workers. Macau's population density is 16,567 residents per square kilometre, one of the highest in the world.
Cathay to operate full schedule next month
Cathay Pacific says it will operate a full flight schedule by late next month. It will also improve its services to London, Auckland, Melbourne and Rome. About 70 per cent of its services were running in July and 90 per cent this month following Sars.
