Suspect in 1993 killing is arrested
A man wanted over the murder of an auxiliary police constable 10 years ago has been arrested.
The suspect, 42, was arrested in Kowloon on Wednesday and was last night still being questioned by officers of the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau.
Constable Ng Ka-wing, 29, was stabbed on September 12, 1993, while on patrol alone. He was attacked at the entrance to Block 17 of Pak Tin Estate in Shekkipmei.
He died in hospital of multiple stab wounds. His service revolver, serial number RHKP 8060, containing six rounds of ammunition, was stolen. The officer's weapon is still missing.
Police probing the killing suspected that the murderer was a fellow police officer because a bullet speed-loader of the type used by the CID was found at the scene. Ng had activated his emergency assistance device, suggesting he knew his assailant.
Police never released the name of the suspect. A $500,000 reward was on offer during the inquiry.
